Northerly is a brand of rolled oats founded by Clayton Wolfe, a fifth generation Saskatchewan farmer. But Wolfe is hoping to do more with Northerly than just sell grains directly to consumers (and markets and restaurants.)
Wolfe is taking smart techniques from his family’s 100 years in the farming and agriculture business in Canada and combining them with advancements in today’s agricultural technology (ag tech)—from AI to IoT—to produce better grain crops with less pollution and less waste. (Learn more about Wolfe’s farming technology here.)
At the same time, Wolfe is also giving back to the community. Fo every 2 lb. bag of Northerly’s rolled oats that is purchased, three servings are donated to Northerly’s hunger relief partners. This program, called For the Grainer Good, also schedules semi-annual food deliveries and is currently donating a bag of oats for every foot climbed in Wolfe’s Climb and Give project as he hikes the seven tallest mountains on seven continents.
Back on terra firma, Northerly, which is based in Scottsdale, Ariz., is working on expanding their sustainably grown crop products. The company expects to add hemp, flax, lentils, and chickpeas to their product offerings soon. .
You can buy Northerly online, or at select specialty stores and co-ops.
